Final Intro... Just to mention my goals

At any point of our lives we all set some goals for ourselves: professional, personal, sometimes unrealistic...oh, those make life more fun...Throughout our lives we change these goals, adjust them for new situations, drop them, acquire new ones, but they are always there...

Knowing somebody's goals and dreams gives us a good look into the inside of that person and figure out what he or she is all about. That knowledge is like a ray of light in a dark room, and once we have that knowledge, the personality is coming out...

I always assign priorities to my goals and dreams. There are so many of them that I would get lost in them if I dont keep a track...:) But no matter how different from each other they can look and what kind of different activities they might incorporate, they all is one big whole thing that is nothing else but my personality;)

So, let 's start with the money... Well, what are you going to do? :) I am a business student - gotta think about finances:) And one of my goals is to generate nice cash. I don't necessarily know what exactly it is going to be but it is going to be my own business; ideas are endless and so are the possibilities...

And this brings us to my second goal, which is to do something that makes me flexible with my time and location. I find money to be nice to have, but it should be only a way of generating income to further fullfill your dreams, to aid to achieve what you really wish for. The flexibility of time and location gives you great opportunity to travel, to see different and vibrant cultures of the world; to attent music concerts, festivals, museums, participate in a lot of fun and educational activities and so on.

Also , this flexibily can help me to achieve another important goal - to help as much as I can and take a part in preserving the natural world around us at least in a way that we know it now. A lot of damage was done by humanity to nature and to a lot of species, but there are still of lot of them that are in great need of our help and it's great that some of us not only are able to understand it but are trying to do something about it...

I told you they all are connected ;) Tell me what you think about any of it:)

Oh my god, why can't there be more people like you!!! I usually go in order of how I read every point in someone's entry, but this deserves to be placed on top! You have officially moved up to to the top of the list, just because you are a nature lover. I respect and admire that a lot. I hate what human civilization has ended up doing to nature, and it irks me every time I see or hear about some other new problem in nature caused by society (especially science experiments and dangerous research, grr!). So I think that aiding in the quest to preserve nature, has been the best goal I have read about thus far.

Aside from that small exertion of emotion... I like your analogy of how goals and dreams of an individual reveals their personality and what they're all about. I usually celebrate specifications and details when discussing or reviewing goals, because it helps us measure progress better, while adding a sense of urgency to attaining those goals. Despite my preferences, I still cannot find an effective method to specify any details in my own goals and target positions, so I guess it's alright. You don't seem to follow any rigorous schedule or set targets to aim for in attaining each goal, either, but I think it still works.

I find the best thing about the goals you've mentioned, is their simplicity. It keeps us in the know of where you want to end up, all the while leaving the methods of getting there, open to many possibilities. For one thing, it definitely prevents you from getting half the stresses of living your life in accordance to a structured plan! "Ideas are endless and so are the possibilities...." !

A business sounds like a great idea to help provide a somewhat steady income in the long run, and a sense of independence. Your desire for flexibility is also something I prize. Most young graduates these days only focus on the money and how fast they will be able to make it. It isn't common to find many people worrying about getting some time to themselves to travel or just enjoy leisurely. I think flexibility of work and travel times is a very realistic goal, especially when you plan on running your own business. You make the rules!

You have a great set of ideas for the future, but I'm sure you have been thinking about making a plan to achieve such goals. If you haven't already, I would surely like to see you form methods of attaining the minor goals required to reach each major goal. I like your sense of care for the environment and desire to experience the different cultures of the world; something I think would help add a certain uniqueness and authenticity to how you make your dreams come true. Good Luck.

It's really a good life style. I like your goals a lot. also, if i can generate enough money, i will do my best to contribute back to our society. i believe this is very important too.
i really like your ideas and goals.
however, i have a few questions, how can we generate enough cash? and how much cash should we have before we should help others? the reason i ask is because i know one thing "money is never enough". the more you have the more you want. should we start giving away while we are generating our income or after we have money and don't need to worry about money?
anyway, your goals and ideas are really good. thanks for sharing with us.

Karup,
Thanks a lot for making such an extensive comment on what I wrote. Is is not even a comment but more of an analysis.Just reading it made me think about my goals even more thoroughly, and come up with different ideas for their implemenation.

First, I want to mention that I m very glad to meet someone who is not indiferent to the nature and all the problems caused by humanity...I wish more people can see how relevant these issues are nowadays. Everyone talks about global warming, they make movies about it and I hear a lot of people say "Oh, what a pity, some other species died out", but do they make a difference? Most of them dont. Just empty words, not actions.

Anyway, back to your comment. You said that you cannot specify the details of your own goals. But do you really need them? Like Machiavelli was stating, you need to set up a goal which is a little bit higher and futher that you truly want to achieve and then with having that in your mind you will always at least get to the point which you truly wanted to get to. Just have it in your mind, some bigger map or plan of those goals and the details will work themselves out...
It s 4 in the moring,I need to get some sleep so I have to keep it a little short, but the conversation becomes very interesting;)
Keep in touch ;)

Eddie,
Thanks a lot for your comment first of all.
I really like that you support my ideas and the question that you are asking is very relevant to the issue. It might be the reason and it probably is that is stopping people from contributing to the good cause.
Then you need to ask yourself, "Does it have to be material at the first place?" Let 's say you dont have any money, there is always a way to contribute. It doesnt have to be money. It can be participation in different projects, there are plenty of organizations that offer it. If you are interested we can discuss it further.
In terms of money, I think when a person is really willing to donate that s is not the question that he ll be asking. Let's say " Are you willing to donate, for example, $ 100, 50 or even 5 a month for a good cause?" Even that small of amount will make a difference. so I belive it s a personal issue every person will decide for himself... but some of humans unfortunately will never get to this question...

Sorry to interfere with the convo, heh, but Eddie had a pretty good question, and also for which you had a good answer: contributions don't always have to be material.

Although Eddie, if you WERE to measure contributions to helping others in terms of money, I would say anything is good. I don't make a big fuss about keeping money, I think it's important to save, but when you are experiencing a very good streak of luck with money, donate some of it =). It makes you feel a whole lot better than if, god forbid, it was lost or used up unnecessarily!

I love your goals. Everyone wants to get rich to live comfortably, but I get the sense that you would do some good as well. I think you should go into a buisness that is nonprofit, that way you can kill too birds with one stone. The money that you generate would be from people who want to contribute to your cause. Although you do want flexability, that will be hard to achieve so quickly when running your own business. But when you finally do, it will be all worth it. Good luck to you.

Marina, everything you've said is right on point. I too am a strong believer that money is a very important part of our modern life, but it should not rule our lifes. I agree with you that as we venture out in the business world we should not forget why we're doing all of this for - to live life to the fullest. Your goals of traveling the world and experiencing new cultures are very dear to me. I've always dreamt of seeing the world and not just the main tourist destinations I want to see it all no matter how dangerous or how beautiful a destination might be.

As for commenting on my business idea I would love it if you could introduce me to some of your friends to discuss the possibilities. Thank you for all of your comments. I'll see you in class. :)

I like your goals. You should try to see if you can somehow develop these three goals into one. If you could start a business that can help the environment, that will allow you to travel, then it will allow you to realize your dreams. If you need some help starting the business, let me know.
